Adani Total Gas is developing City Gas Distribution (CGD) Networks to supply the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to the Industrial, Commercial, Domestic (residential) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to the transport sector. Natural Gas is a convenient, reliable and environment friendly fuel that allows consumers to enjoy a high level of safety, convenience and economic efficiency.

The company has already set up city gas distribution networks in Ahmedabad and Vadodara in Gujarat, Faridabad in Haryana and Khurja in Uttar Pradesh. In addition, the development of Allahabad, Chandigarh, Ernakulam, Panipat, Daman, Dharwad, and Udhamsingh Nagar gas distribution is awarded to consortium of Adani Total Gas Ltd and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.

Challenges Faced by Client

·         Demand for additional lines to accommodate increasing traffic and the high cost of network management for different sites

·         The need to introduce an advanced network infrastructure that can detect and manage traffic on each line on a real-time basis

·         The need to improve visibility across the entire network and to analyze the source of an error in real-time

·         Performance degradation caused by growing utilization of cloud applications and services

·         Users face performance issues with WAN access.

·         No security restrictions are in force for employees and guest users.

Denovo Solution to Client

·         Implementing the Cisco SD-WAN Components (vManage, vSmart and vBond).

·         Installation and configuration of Cisco Prime and UCS server.

·         Cisco ISE installation with 802.1x and MAB, along with profiling as well as device administration for AAA

·         Installation of 2 FTDs at Ahmedabad site with FMC deployment on GCP and a virtual FTD.

·         Installation and configuration of Virtual SDWAN Edge device in GCP.

·         Management Plane

o    vManage Network Management System (NMS):The vManage NMS is a centralized network management system that lets you configure, manage, and troubleshoot the entire overlay network from a simple graphical dashboard.

o    Single pane of glass for Day0, Day1 and Day2 operations. Single-tenant. Centralized provisioning, Troubleshooting and Monitoring. RBAC and APIs.

·         Orchestration Plane

o    vBond Orchestrator—The vBond orchestrator automatically orchestrates connectivity between cEdge routers and vSmart controllers.

o     First point of authentication. Distributes list of vSmarts/ vManage to all WAN Edges.

·         Control Plane

o    vSmart Controller—The vSmart controller is the centralized brain of the Cisco SDWAN solution, controlling the flow of data traffic throughout the network.

o    Dissimilates control plane information between WAN Edges. Distributes data plane centralized routing policies to the WAN Edges. Implements control plane policies.

·         Data Plane - Physical devices. Zero/One touch Provisioning. Establishes secure fabric. Implements data plane and localized policies. Exports performance statistics.

Benefits to Client

·         The new SDWAN architecture is more robust, flexible and more resilient than a traditional WAN architecture.

·         Cisco SDWAN Secure Extensible Network (SEN) has led to reduction in site deployment time through template-based configuration approach and provides meaningful monitoring capabilities -network and application visibility, monitoring, reporting and troubleshooting insights to the operations team and assists in proper transition from engineering to operations team.

·         SD-WAN solution provides redundancy from control and data plane perspective. Controllers in an active-active mode deployed in the Cisco Cloud. From a Data Plane perspective, hardware level redundancy –either box or link or both is available wherever applicable

·         The solution provides end-to-end encryption for all traffic while traversing over the SD-WAN overlay.
